Smart Yoga

This class incorporate the principles of the Alexander Technique, taught in the Smart Yoga style. This is a mindful approach to using our whole being. It makes simple movements feel lighter and easier and helps alleviate tension and pain in the body. The Alexander Technique, applied to the large repertoire of postures and movements introduced to us through yoga, helps us build a clear and balanced state of mind, enhances our curiosity. Yoga and Alexander Technique together offer a subtle method of changing harmful habits and help you move towards less pain and more freedom in all your daily activities. Caroline’s classes are gentle and energising so, if you haven’t tried yoga before, they are a great place to start.

About Caroline Blackshaw

Caroline Blackshaw, Smart Yoga teacher and teacher trainer from Yoga Hut in Melbourne, Australia has been teaching yoga for close to 20 years. Over time, Caroline found that there were aspects of her yoga practice, which seemed to be causing injury and she began to seek more information about how to work with the postures in the most beneficial way for each practitioner.
The key to discovering more about yoga, for her, lay in learning the Alexander Technique. Caroline studied with David Moore at the School for F M Alexander Studies, where she found that, by applying the principles of the technique to her yoga practice, she was able to start to enjoy postures she had previously found difficult, find a lightness and ease in her body that had not been available in the past, and that many of her injuries and aches and pains decreased or even went away.
Caroline teaches weekly yoga classes at Yoga Hut in Melbourne, Australia and online, and trains Smart Yoga teacher trainees with David Moore at the School for FM Alexander Studies in Melbourne, Australia and online.
